No charges have been filed and players are cooperating with investigators, sources told NJ Advance Media.
BIG TEN PREDICTIONS: RU picked to finish last in East
NJ Advance Media did not identify the players who are under investigation, but its reporting made it appear as though safety K.J. Gray is one of them.
NJ Advance Media reported separately Thursday that Gray was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and multiple traffic offenses after a June vehicle stop in East Brunswick, N.J.
The report also said that Rutgers officials were not aware of the arrest at the time of Gray’s dismissal and that they learned of it only when NJ Advance Media asked them for a response.
Gray, a rising junior, played in 20 games (four starts) in two seasons with the Scarlet Knights. He led RU’s secondary with 58 tackles last season.
