After Rutgers surrendered 55 points in a blowout loss to Big 12 bottom-dweller Kansas earlier this season, we thought it would be difficult to find a highlight that better represents the Scarlet Knights’ atrocious football, but they outdid themselves on Saturday.

Rutgers, in a 34-7 loss at Maryland, had more interceptions (five) than completions (two) on 17 attempts. The Terrapins also had more interception return yards (46) than Rutgers had passing yards (8). Last we checked, that’s spectacularly bad.
Here’s the thing, though: Those five picks weren’t even the worst part of the game. At least some of the takeaways came down to tight coverage by the Terrapins’ defense.
What we can’t explain is this attempted kickoff return:
