Ahead of his fight against Javier Fortuna on Saturday, the former interim WBC lightweight title holder discussed the career of the YouTuber-turned-boxer. Paul is undefeated through five career fights and has flashed some power and skill. However, he has faced less-than-stellar opponents, leaving critics wondering if he is serious about the sport or simply chasing the next paycheck.

So, weighing all of the factors involved, where would Garcia rank Paul on his list?

“Top 30, top 40, but it would be hard for him to crack anything more than that because these guys have been boxing their whole lives,” Garcia told DAZN.

Garcia noted that the boxers in the top 30-40 range are on another level because they have been battling for opportunities their entire lives, whereas Paul has only been in the fight game for a few years.

“He makes money in other places, and he started off like that,” Garcia said. “These guys have nothing, and they’re experienced. They’re not playing around.”

Paul will have another shot to prove himself on Aug. 6 when he faces Hasim Rahman Jr.
