Fans looking for answers were given small clues as to how Deadpool and Wolverine’s team-up may work in the upcoming movie, especially since Jackman had previously been very vocal about not reprising his role as the Marvel Comics mutant.
“I had a lot of questions, and I’m sure you had a lot of questions, but rest assured we’re going to answer them right now,” Jackman tells viewers.
The pair begin speaking to the camera, seemingly going into details about the plot of Deadpool 3, but at the absolute worst time, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” by Wham! kicks in.
Before the trolling kicks in, they do highlight one glaring issue regarding the character of Wolverine and Jackman’s portrayal of him.
“How is Wolverine alive after Logan?” Jackman asked on behalf of fans who watched their hero die at the end of his last standalone movie.
“Logan takes place in 2029. Totally separate thing. Logan died in Logan. Not touching that,” Reynolds explained.
When the music stops, the pair thank Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios who appears to be recruiting all the classic Marvel characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
After Disney’s acquisition of Fox Studios, they gained the rights to all of the X-Men characters, which had previously been separate from the MCU. This means characters who have had their own standalone movies such as Wolverine, Deadpool, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four could all join the likes of Spider-Man, Black Panther and Doctor Strange in the MCU.
These superheros and more are expected to join the MCU for the upcoming Phase 5 and 6, across multiple movies and Disney+ TV shows. Marvel recently revealed new information about projects and launched new trailers for a number of shows at the recent D23 Expo earlier in September.
So far, not much is known about the release of Deadpool 3 except a release date. Alongside the teaser announcement, which has been viewed tens of millions of times online, it was confirmed that the film would launch on September 6, 2024.
