Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police say they were dispatched to the Lucan, Ont., coffee chain where a green Chevrolet pickup truck struck the building around 4 a.m. ET Thursday. O’Reilly and an unnamed passenger continued to drive the vehicle before abandoning it, according to police.

The two were later discovered walking along a nearby highway, where police determined they had been drinking alcohol. O’Reilly was arrested and given an appearance ticket in court in London for Aug. 20.

O’Reilly, 24, is two weeks removed from signing a seven-year, $52.5-million contract with the Sabres, the richest in franchise history. He was acquired in a June 26 trade with the Avalanche.

The pickup truck is a 1951 special, according to The Buffalo News — the same model featured in a post on O’Reilly’s Instagram account seven weeks ago.

The Sabres released a brief statement via their Twitter account on Monday evening.
