From what players have seen so far, it looks like Saints Row is going to strip back the series formula to its basics, while still adding a ton of new material and updating a lot of the old tropes and mechanics. With a fresh new setting in the fictional city of Santo Ileso, the player-controlled Boss is looking to set up their own criminal empire as they take out rival gangs and build their reputation. But they won’t be doing this alone, as they’ll have a few crime-minded companions to help along the way - including the talented getaway driver named Neenah.

Neenah’s Backstory

Alongside the Boss, Saints Row will have several main characters that will help the player on their journey of dominance in Santo Ileso. Among this group of important NPCs is Neenah, the driver and Los Panteros expert among the crew. As the daughter of two mechanics, Neenah has a natural gift when it comes to cars. She was raised by her father after she lost her mother to cancer at fifteen, but she still followed her mother’s advice and went to university to study her other passion – art.

However, it turns out that a degree in anthropology and art history isn’t all that lucrative and all she could find was an unpaid museum internship in Santo Ileso. Refusing to work for less than she was worth, Neenah quit and got a job as a mechanic to pay the bills, which is where she got noticed by Los Panteros. Known as the best driver in the business and a stellar mechanic on top of that, Neenah knows how to put her skills to good use. She’s determined to work her way up and earn enough money to live out her dreams as a collector of art, as well as to continue to indulge her deep-seated love of cars.

Her Role In The Gang

As a former member of the Panteros, Neenah could serve as a way in to that particular street gang, even if relationships soured when she left the group. As a fellow car enthusiast with previous affiliations with the equally motor-obsessed gang, Neenah will know exactly how the Panteros operate and what motivates them, which could definitely come in handy.

With Saints Row looking to increase the importance of cars and make sure they can be used for vehicular combat as well as transport, Neenah’s role as the getaway driver will undoubtedly be useful and ensure that she’s right in the middle of the action. The Boss and their companions will be involved in all sorts of high octane antics, and having a steady pair of hands behind the wheel as well as someone who knows their way around the criminal underworld of Santo Ileso can only be a good thing.

Saints Row is set to release on August 23, 2022, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
