The new Saints Row takes players away from the familiar settings of Stillwater and Steelport and to the southwestern city of Santo Ileso. Despite all the somewhat controversial changes that Saints Row makes to the series, that trademark customization is still present. This guide will show players how to customize weapons for maximum style points.

How to Customize Weapons in Saints Row
Find a Friendly Fire Store
To customize weapons, players must first complete the main missions “First F#@!ing Day,” “Morning Commute,” and “Making Rent,” after which Saints Row will open up for exploration.
Upon reaching this stage, players can visit any Friendly Fire store across the map, indicated by the green icon with a gun in the center. It’s at these stores that players can tune their weapons to their heart’s content.
By entering the store and interacting with the counter, a list of weapons will appear, which can be sorted by type. Here, players can fully customize their own weapons with unique paints, upgrade their weapons, or buy new ones.
Playing with Weapons
Customizing weapons in Saints Row offers a great amount of choice, allowing players to change not only the color of their guns but also the shape. Moreover, players can also choose from a variety of decals and weapon patterns to decorate with.
To do so, simply select the desired weapon, scroll down to “Customize,” and select one of the many options. Choosing “Visual Mod” will allow players to make certain weapons look like another, while picking “Material” will allow players to equip Cutting Edge materials once that Criminal Venture is unlocked.
“Weapon Colors” gives players the opportunity to fine-tune the colors of the gun, and “Surface Options” changes the metallic and gloss values of each section of the weapon. Both the “Weapon Decal” and “Weapon Patterns” tabs offer preset weapon decorations for the player to choose from. Finally, there remains an option to “Reset Changes” to revert the weapon to its original look.
As players explore the vast open world of Saints Row, completing quests and side activities, more weapon customization items will be unlocked. Furthermore, as players continue to level up, Friendly Fire will offer increasingly powerful weapons to purchase, customize, and upgrade.
Saints Row is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
